Each Lunar New Year, the Fo Guang Shan Buddha Museum hosts the 15-day “Illuminating the World Blessing Festival,” a cherished tradition that draws thousands of visitors. In 2025, the event takes inspiration from a Buddhist tale about a deer, using a grand light show to convey messages of compassion and wisdom.

The performance opens with Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s recitation of the New Year Blessing Prayer, offering peace and hope to all. To enhance accessibility, RUMU developed a WebAR experience that allows visitors to use their phones to view real-time English subtitles during the entire show.

As the performance reaches its heartfelt finale, AR sky lanterns slowly rise in sync with the on-site visuals. Each lantern displays Master Hsing Yun’s calligraphy, symbolizing prayers and blessings for the new year. Visitors are welcome to capture and share this meaningful moment through photos and videos.
